In integrated LED recessed spotlights, the light source is fixed in the spotlight. These spotlights are often more compact and technically well-finished, but the light source is usually not replaceable separately.

Many recessed spotlights are dimmable, but this depends on the light source, driver, and dimmer. For GU10 recessed spotlights, the dimmability primarily depends on the chosen GU10 bulb. If you want to control the lighting smartly, you can also opt for Philips Hue GU10 bulbs. With these, you can dim and control the spotlights via the Hue app, remote control, motion sensor, or voice control.

The number of recessed spotlights depends on the size of the room, the ceiling height, the beam angle, and the desired ambiance. A kitchen or bathroom usually requires more functional light than a living room or bedroom. Also, consider the distance between the spotlights and the distance to the wall.

The required mounting depth varies per recessed spot and light source. Therefore, always check the product specifications. In addition to the height of the spot, also consider extra space for the fitting, connection, and any heat dissipation above the ceiling.

Recessed spotlights can often be easily installed, but the electrical connection must be safe and carried out in accordance with applicable standards. If you are unsure about the connection, wiring, or bathroom zones, have the installation carried out or checked by an electrician.

For homes, warm white light is usually chosen. A light color of 2700K provides a warm, atmospheric look. For functional spaces such as a kitchen, 3000K can be pleasant, as it appears slightly brighter and more neutral.

Fixed recessed spotlights shine light straight downwards and create a calm ceiling appearance. Adjustable recessed spotlights are useful when you want to direct light, for example, onto a kitchen worktop, wall, cabinet, or painting. Fixed spotlights are often chosen for general lighting, while adjustable spotlights are more practical for accent lighting.
